Academic reference
The Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) is Kerala's implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, replacing the traditional three-year degree structure across state universities. Under FYUGP, internships are not optional. They are a mandatory, credit-bearing part of every student's academic pathway.
The Kerala State Higher Education Council requires FYUGP students to complete structured internships through approved industry partners, and the official Internship Kerala portal is the central platform used for this process. Students need internships that are recognisable to their college, properly documented, and aligned with university credit requirements.
Portfolio Builders, powered by Portfolix Enterprise Pvt Ltd, delivers KSHEC-aligned FYUGP internship tracks in technology, design, business, and operations. Students can also explore related FYUGP resources and guides to understand program fit, portfolio value, and internship planning before they apply.
The FYUGP credit model links internship duration directly to academic credit. In practical terms, students usually complete a 60-hour, 120-hour, or 240-hour internship depending on department rules, semester structure, and university guidance.
1 Credit (60 Hours): A shorter internship track designed for students who need early exposure to industry workflows, mentor interaction, and structured deliverables.
2 Credits (120 Hours): A standard FYUGP internship format for many undergraduate students, giving enough time for skill development, project work, and submission-ready documentation.
4 Credits (240 Hours): A deeper internship track with stronger project ownership, continuous evaluation, and a capstone-level experience. This is especially relevant for students who need a more comprehensive academic credit component or want stronger portfolio outcomes.
Internships can be completed during regular semesters or vacation windows within the first six semesters. FYUGP also gives flexibility across Major, Minor, Interdisciplinary, and Allied Disciplines, so commerce, arts, management, and engineering students can apply for tracks that support their academic pathway and career direction.
As a KSHEC-registered industry partner, Portfolix Enterprise structures internships for students across Kerala universities including the University of Kerala, MG University, University of Calicut, CUSAT, KTU, Kannur University, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kerala Kalamandalam, Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, and Sree Narayana Guru Open University.
University of Kerala: Students across Thiruvananthapuram and southern Kerala can complete hybrid or guided remote internship tracks.
Mahatma Gandhi University (MG University): Students from Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta can use the Kochi center for accessible hybrid participation.
University of Calicut and Kannur University: Students can participate through hybrid and remote-friendly internship formats while maintaining documentation for college approval.
CUSAT and KTU: Engineering and technology-focused students can use on-site and hybrid tracks from Kakkanad for stronger project exposure and direct mentor access.
Students choose Portfolix Enterprise because the internship is built around real projects instead of recorded classes and dummy exercises. Interns work with live product workflows, structured mentor feedback, and documentation that colleges can actually review.
Every internship track includes AICTE and UGC-aligned logbooks, progress reporting, and outcome-focused evaluation, making the experience easier to submit for FYUGP approval. Students also gain access to multi-domain programs across AI/ML, MERN Stack, UI/UX Design, Business Analytics, digital marketing, and product-oriented roles.
Beyond the core internship, students participate in hackathons, weekly challenges, and portfolio-building tasks that help them convert academic credit into visible career proof. That combination of compliance, practical exposure, and industry delivery is why students across Kerala use Portfolix Enterprise for FYUGP internships.
